Flat Tire Help in Knoxville: Spare Tire or Tow?

Describe what is available with the vehicle

• The make, model and year, if known.

• Which tire is flat and whether more than one tire is affected.

• Whether the vehicle has a spare, and whether you know it is usable.

• Whether a wheel-lock key is available.

• Whether the vehicle is a passenger car, RV, commercial truck or towing a trailer.

If you do not know whether there is a spare, say so. Do not assume roadside service includes a replacement tire or an on-site tire repair. Ask what can be provided for the specific vehicle before authorizing a job.

Explain the pickup conditions

Give your address or highway number, direction of travel and nearest exit or mile marker. Tell dispatch if the vehicle is on a shoulder, slope, soft surface or inside a parking structure. Report any collision damage or immediate hazard. Do not expose yourself to traffic to inspect the tire or take a photograph.

Have a destination ready if a tow is needed

If a suitable tire change cannot be arranged, dispatch can discuss towing. Confirm the destination address and whether that location can receive the vehicle. Tell dispatch about a locked gate or other restrictions at pickup or drop-off.

Ask what the estimate covers, the payment arrangements and expected timing. Nighttime truck availability is limited and after-hours pricing is substantially higher. If the vehicle is safely parked, ask about daytime options.
